RICHMASS!! @ Cobra Lounge

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

We’re very excited to be playing the 666th annual Richmass at the Cobra Lounge. If you’re unaware of Richmass, it’s a time-honored Christmas spectacular in which Rich reaches new heights of magnaminity by dressing up as Santa and throwing presents at everyone. They also play their songs. It’s going to be fun as hell, so you should come out and enjoy the holiday spirit in whatever way you think best. As for me, I’ll be celebrating secular humanism and the pursuit of rational inquiry.

I think I heard we were playing first, which means that Come On Come On will hit the stage after that. ILR headlines, of course. It’ll start whenever shows start.

The show is on Wednesday, December 23, and the Cobra Lounge is at 235 N. Ashland, which is just a bit north of Lake.

Quenchers w/ Voluntary Mother Earth

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Hey friends. We’re hitting up Quenchers again on Friday, October 23. If you missed our Metal Up Your Tap show (“I went to go see the Melvins instead,” “it’s all the way up in Rogers Park,” blah blah blah) you should definitely come out to this one. We’ll be joined by Voluntary Mother Earth, who are from fuckin’ Japan, and how often do you get to see a band from fuckin’ Japan? I think it’s happened to me like twice. So that’s gonna be exciting.

Pretty sure there will be a third band, but that is TBD. I’ll update this accordingly.

Quenchers is at 2401 N. Western in Chicago. Things will probably get going around 10.

Red Line Tap w/ Reptoids, Thorlock, Czar

Monday, September 21st, 2009

There’s been a lot of stuff going on in the world of Hay Perro lately, and we are back in business with a bunch of news:

First thing’s first – we thought we’d shake things up a bit and redesign the website. We’ve also added a new merch section, where you can buy stuff directly from us here.

Also, we’re extremely happy to welcome our new bass player, Dan Agosto into the group. We’ve known Dan for as long as Hay Perro has been around, and the more savvy among you will recognize his name as our primary sound engineer from albums past.

Finally, we have a new show coming up this Saturday, the 26th at the Redline Tap. We’re excited to take part in our first Metal Up Your Tap show. We’ll be playing with The Reptoids, Czar, and ((THORLOCK)) from St. Louis. It is guaranteed to be a brutal evening, so be sure to make it out and welcome Dan in his Hay Perro debut.

7″ Release Show at Cal’s with the Venom Lords, I Love Rich

Friday, July 31st, 2009

That’s right – we’re finally doing a 7″. It’s a split with our friends the Venom Lords. It rocks pretty hard, and we’re very excited about it. Plus, we did this thing where we saved some money by letting the pressing plant use whatever color of vinyl they wanted to get rid of. So when you buy it, it could be literally any color imaginable. That is some Golden Ticket type of shit right there.

We’ll be releasing the record at Cal’s Liquors on Friday, August 14. Show will probably get going around 10. The Venom Lords will be playing, of course, and we’ll be joined by I Love Rich. So you know it’s going to be a tremendous evening.

However, despite all this amazing shit, the night will be bittersweet. We’re sad to say it will be Ben’s last show with us for the foreseeable future. He’s starting grad school in Ann Arbor next month, which means that the Perro will be on a bit of a hiatus while we figure out where to go from here. This is all the more reason why you need to come to this show. There’ll still be an Hay Perro, but there will no longer be this Hay Perro. So let’s get this done one last time.

Elgin with The Repulsators!

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

This Friday, the 24th, we’ll be heading out West to Gasthaus in Elgin, IL to play with our friends (and Elgin legends), The Repulsators. Also playing are The Bungdoons. It should be a fun night, so head on out and take advantage of Gasthaus’ all you can eat fish fry.

The Gasthaus is at: 15 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

Things should get going around 9PM so bring your finest army helmet and get there early!

Quenchers with Bible of the Devil, Six Six Crush

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Well this is pretty awesome. On Saturday, July 11 we’ll be playing at Quenchers with veteran Chicago shredders Bible of the Devil. They are bad ass (definitely check out their newest record Freedom Metal if you haven’t already), so this is going to be a real treat. You’re going to want to come out and feel this.

Also on the bill is Six Six Crush out of Minneapolis. It’ll be a great show, plus Quenchers has an excellent (and huge) beer list.

Quenchers is at the corner of Fullerton and Western. I would imagine things will get going around 10.

The Mutiny (w/ State and Yarn)

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

We’re playing the Mutiny on Friday, June 12. This by itself would be a very positive thing: the Mutiny has cheap beer and never charges a cover. Compounding this good news, however, is the fact that the Indiana-based rock and roll juggernaut known as State will be joining us. They are very, very good and have a fantastic live show. If you’ve been considering coming to an Hay Perro show for a while and are trying to settle on the best one, I’ll save you the trouble and let you know that this is the one to come to.

Yarn are also on the bill. They are quite wonderful as well, but since they’re from Chicago, you’ve probably already seen them several times and know that.

The Mutiny is at 2428 N. Western and the show starts around 10:00. We’ll probably play last, but do not lollygag. You owe it to yourself to see the other bands.

Pictures from Indiana

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Hey folks.

We had an awesome weekend in Indiana with State. See them at your earliest convenience: they will slay you. (If you live in Chicago, the earliest convenience is going to be June 12 at the Mutiny, where we’re playing with them. I’ll do a post about that later.)

Here’s some pictures from Indianapolis, which was Punk Rock Night at the Melody Inn.

As you can see from the sidebar, we’re hitting St. Louis on Saturday. The venue is FUBAR, at 3108 Locust St. Show starts at 10.

Also we’re recording soon, and we have a special plan in the works. Stay tuned.

Melody Inn (Indianapolis, Indiana)

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

This will be the second night of our Indiana tour and is part of the Melody Inn’s ongoing Punk Rock Night. This is very cool tradition that we are quite pleased to be part of.

Also playing that night will be our friends State and Applecore.

The show starts around 9:00. The Melody Inn is at 3826 N. Illinois Street in Indianapolis.

Uncle Fester’s (Bloomington, Indiana)

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Hay Perro will be heading to the home state of Larry Bird and Dan Quayle for a two-date tour in May.

Our first date will be at phenomenally-named Uncle Fester’s House of Booze in Bloomington. Headlining will be the quite fantastic and almost unclassifiable State, as well as local legends Walking Ruins.

The show starts at 10:00 p.m.
