Melody Inn (Indianapolis, Indiana)

May 9th, 2009

This will be the second night of our Indiana tour and is part of the Melody Inn’s ongoing Punk Rock Night. This is very cool tradition that we are quite pleased to be part of.

Also playing that night will be our friends State and Applecore.

The show starts around 9:00. The Melody Inn is at 3826 N. Illinois Street in Indianapolis.

Uncle Fester’s (Bloomington, Indiana)

May 8th, 2009

Hay Perro will be heading to the home state of Larry Bird and Dan Quayle for a two-date tour in May.

Our first date will be at phenomenally-named Uncle Fester’s House of Booze in Bloomington. Headlining will be the quite fantastic and almost unclassifiable State, as well as local legends Walking Ruins.

The show starts at 10:00 p.m.

Red Line Tap (w/ Dr. Know and The Repulsators)

April 30th, 2009

We’ll be back at the Red Line Tap on Saturday, May 16.

Due to an unfortunate skateboarding accident, the Freeze have postponed their tour. Magnafux have canceled as well. Taking their place at the Red Line Tap will be legendary nardcore band, Dr. Know.

Things will probably get underway around 9:00. Also on the bill are The Repulsators.

Join us, the Red Line’s Saturday special is $2.50 Summit and 312 drafts.

The Mutiny w/ Moshi Moshi Kaiju

March 11th, 2009

First of all, thanks to everyone who came out to the Cobra Lounge show, and especially Chris Englert, I Love Rich, and M.O.T.O. It was a blast. I spilled more beer on myself than I normally do, and that’s a good thing.

Second, we’re playing at the Mutiny on Saturday, March 21 with Moshi Moshi Kaiju. I’m a little unclear on the details, but if you get there around 10 you should be in good shape. It’s free and they serve beer, so what the fuck. Step into the batter’s box.

Cobra Lounge (w/ I Love Rich and M.O.T.O.)

February 15th, 2009

The fates have aligned and placed us on a quite awesome show on Friday, February 27 at the Cobra Lounge.

We’ll play first around 9:00 and be followed by the juggernaut known as I Love Rich. Anyone who has spoken to a member of Hay Perro in the past two years knows that their rock prowess knows no bounds. After that, the Chicago institution M.O.T.O. will serenade the masses in their loud, fast, and awesome way.

In addition to being a great bill, the show is also FREE. The Cobra is at 235 N. Ashland. Come early, their tater tots are exceptional.

Phyllis’ Musical Inn (early show)

February 15th, 2009

We’re playing an early show (~8:00 p.m.) at Phyllis’ Musical Inn this coming Friday, February 20. The show is a going away party for Venom Lords drummer and all-around great guy Scott Gibson who is leaving Chicago for the slightly lower sales tax of New York.

The bar is located at 1800 W. Division in Wicker Park. We’ll play first and the Venom Lords will follow. All attendees will be asked to embrace Scott in the fashion depicted below:

Cal’s Bar (w/ Sister Switchblade and RedCity)

January 31st, 2009

We’re returning to Cal’s Bar on Friday, February 13.

This is our second straight show with the self-described “quintet of fist fighting sleaze” known as Sister Switchblade. RedCity is also on the bill.

By now, you know that Cal’s is at 400 S. Wells in the South Loop and as usual things get underway around 9:00.

Reggie’s Music Joint (w/ Sister Switchblade, State, and the Delta Routine)

January 8th, 2009

We’re playing at Reggie’s Music Joint on Saturday, January 24. It should be a pretty rock-heavy evening; we’ll be joined by Sister Switchblade, State, and the Delta Routine.

Reggie’s is at 2105 S. State Street, two blocks from where Chess Records was headquartered from 1956 to 1965. The show starts at 9:00 and we play last. You can construe this as headlining if you wish. Cover is $5.

We have been reviewed lately

December 20th, 2008

Lately we’ve gotten a few reviews of our latest EP, “Summer of Destruction.” Here are some excerpts and links:

These guys waste no time opening up the throttle: “Everything is Permitted” and “Kitty, Queen of Destiny” deliver the rushing riffs and dueling axe work the metal hounds crave… “The End Is Nigh” proves to be the high point of the EP, introducing a bashing, low-slung blues melody a la TESLA before shifting into a punked-up, rapid-fire tempo with a commanding bassline. It may not be a familiar name now, but a couple more discs like this one will surely make HAY PERRO a respected moniker in metal circles.” – Peacedogman.com

“One part 70s hard rock, one part 80s noise rock and a dash of bitters. For those who wondered what it might sound like if the Jesus Lizard did a Blue Oyster Cult tribute show. I’ll give you a hint: It’s pretty cool.” – Aiding & Abetting

“Combining the dark forces of metal, the thunder of rock and the furious pace of the mighty jackalope a newer stronger less leaden band has been thrust forth thusly…You can certainly hear the Maiden influence as well as Kiss and perhaps a little Zeke – but what do I know? Comparisons aside Hay Perro has a fresh rock sound and from what I can gather would likely be quite formidable in front of you on a stage, preferably somewhere near to where you are.” – Upstarter

We are pretty stoked about the nice things these fellows have had to say. Please check out the full reviews! Also, come to our show tonight at the Mutiny (see previous post.)

The Mutiny (w/ the Venom Lords)

December 15th, 2008

We’re playing at the Mutiny this Saturday (December 20 or three days before Festivus). We will be joined by the Venom Lords and presumably at least one more band.

Things will probably get underway around 9:00. We play first. The Mutiny is located at 2428 N. Western Avenue, just north of Fullerton.
